What To Do When Sh*t Happens

We can plan as much as we want and we can study as hard as possible but, sometimes life and, especially our bodies, has other plans. Here's a step-by-step guide for what to do when.

  • You checked the final exam schedule and your final is on the same date as your brother's wedding/graduation/familial or cultural event already planned and paid for --> Go here and here for all of your options on petitioning the Ad Board for a make-up, an in absentia or an out-of-sequence exam.

  • You have a chronic illness/ disability, you are registered with AEO and your class is not providing an expected accommodation --> Contact me right away to meet and chat. Be in touch with your AEO officer, if you haven't already.

  • What the hell is AEO?! --> Read about it here.

  • You have a chronic illness, you've been managing it on your own and do not want AEO involved --> this is absolutely okay and you're right to remain private about your conditions. This also means you will need to navigate requesting and receiving support on an individual and case-by-case basis which may prove exhausting and frustrating.

  • You've been having a lot of conversations about what it would be like to take some time off --> Go here.

  • Your future employer/supervisor/graduate school wants your transcript --> Go here.

  • Whoops, it's past the Fifth Monday and you want to drop a course. WELP --> Go here.
