....5,6,7,EIGHT!
Something about watching this just makes me want to get up and dance. I may have found my next calling, after a bass player in a rock band and a crime-fighting superhero (it could happen).
Greetings dear Winthrop and thank you for this weekly opportunity to check in!

I hope this finds you as well as you can be right now. As we near the end of the academic term I want to remind you:
If you have ANY inkling that you need a bit more time with your assignments, TAKE IT. Email your professor requesting an extension and CC me in the email. You don't need permission to get support, you deserve it. No matter what your circumstances are -- be it that you haven't felt that impacted or you're living in a precarious situation that's constantly changing -- this is an unprecedented time for all of us. That means all of us are affected on some level. Here's a draft you can use to start from and tweak as you see fit:
To my Professors —
The current situation of continuing classes online and self-isolation on campus/ at home/ away has been a challenge for everyone. Unfortunately, such an environment has negatively affected my health.
Because I take pride in my work and respect that you are adapting to this situation as well, I thought it was appropriate to inform you of my struggle. Many other students are in the same position as me but it can still be hard to share.
I am asking for an understanding of why my work may be late or not of the same quality.
[Here’s where you may be more specific regarding upcoming work]
I have cc’d my Resident Dean, as well. Thank you for your time,
As best you can plan ahead. See what's coming up. Ask yourself, "Will I be able to do this in the time allotted? Will I be set-up properly? What might get in the way?.... What would Dean Chavers say?"
Harvard Summer School is continuing remotely. To that end, do check out these courses at HSS that will count for credit! https://www.summer.harvard.edu/sites/summer.harvard.edu/files/atoms/files/HSS%202020%20Courses%20for%20Harvard%20College%20Credit_4.10.2020.pdf
SENIORS! (and Juniors, I know), the Office of Career Services (OCS) is doing LOTS to address your justified anxieties. In fact, they are open 9-5 M-F for virtual appointments, register here: https://harvard-csm.symplicity.com/. You should also bookmark and subscribe to their events calendar here: https://ocs.fas.harvard.edu/calendar/upcoming/student-population-class-year/all-undergraduates
For local 'Throplings,
Be sure to check out the new information about summer on campus. For non-graduating students on campus here are the details and the application to remain. Apply by April 23rd, Thursday. The bar for this is extremely high, the College must abide by public health guidelines.
There is no option to stay for seniors, unfortunately. Please get in touch with me so I can help navigate your next steps.
Today I am grateful to have this space to share with all of you. Thank you for being who y'all are -- the best students and the best people!!
Your Resident Dean,
DC
