Easier Enrollment in Gen Ed: Request -- Rank -- Register!

The Office of General Education is pleased to officially announce a new and improved enrollment process for Gen Ed courses, effective for the spring 2020 semester.

In response to student concerns, we are excited to pilot a coordinated, ranked-choice enrollment process which will match a greater number of students with their preferred courses. The enrollment system is designed so that it is in your best interest to state your preferences honestly.

The new process has three simple steps: Request, Rank, and Register.

Request: For all Spring 2020 Gen Ed courses in which you'd like to enroll, you must request permission to enroll through my.harvard by 11:59pm on Wednesday, January 29th. Requesting permission does not bind you to enroll, but please note that you are expected to attend the class meetings of the courses for which you petition!

Rank: Once you've requested permission to enroll in one or more Gen Ed courses, you will have the option in my.harvard to rank your choices. Within 15 minutes of your completed petition, a banner in my.harvard will appear and instruct you on how to do so. The deadline to rank your choices is also 11:59pm on Wednesday, January 29th, so plan accordingly and be sure to give yourself a few moments after requesting a course to rank it.

Register: By the registration deadline, enroll in as many or as a few of the courses for which you were granted permission. For a list of FAQ’s and detailed information on the new Gen Ed enrollment process, please visit the enrollment page on the Gen Ed website. A complete listing and schedule of Gen Ed courses is also available.Thank you, and we hope you have a great semester!
