Considering a Language Placement Exam?

Language placement exams enable you to fulfill your language requirement or receive a course recommendation. Online and on-campus language placement exams will be offered to eligible students in January. Taking a placement exam is one option among many for fulfilling the requirement; please see the placement exams website for information about all your options to satisfy it.

Online Exams Online exams in French or Spanish may be taken between January 6 and 30, 2020. You do not need to be on campus to take these exams, but you must register for them between now and January 29, 2020. On-Campus Exams In addition to the online exams, students will have the opportunity to take on-campus placement exams in other languages. Information about these exams is posted to the placement exams website. Eligibility  Note that an undergraduate may not take a placement exam for the purpose of fulfilling the language requirement in a language that he or she is studying (or has studied) while matriculated at Harvard. Additionally, a student may only take each language placement exam once.

If you have any questions after reviewing the information on the website, please speak with your academic adviser.
